NPI Mission

Our goal is to provide the best care to clients that suffer from mental and behavior health challenges and develop a community system of support and care. As leaders in the mental health field, we want to emphasize that the quality of service is just as important as the positive outcomes we hope to achieve in our client's lives.

We only hope to embody the ideals and statutes associated with service while creating access to community resources for our consumers.

"Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going."
                                                     — Noam Shpancer, PhD

NPI SERVICES

Intensive In-home Services

Intensive In-home Services (IIH) are short-term, family-focused interventions for children and adolescents designed to provide therapeutic support and interventions in a client's home environment.  These services typically focus on individuals with behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges.  These services aim to reduce the need for out-of-home placements by providing support to the family.

Mobile Crisis Response

This service offers short-term intervention and support to help individuals avoid hospitalization or incarceration during a crisis. It includes grief counseling, wellness check-ins, and basic medical care. This service is available wherever the crisis occurs—at home, work, or school setting. It assesses the situation, provides immediate support, and assists in coordinating follow-up services and communication with existing care providers.

Mental Health Skill-Building

Mental Health Skill Building provides goal-oriented training to help individuals develop and maintain stability and independence within the community, in the most appropriate and least restrictive setting. To qualify, individuals must demonstrate a clinical need for these services due to a mental, behavioral, or emotional condition that significantly impacts their ability to perform major life activities. This process focuses on enhancing coping mechanisms, improving interpersonal skills, and promoting resilience.

23-Hour Crisis Services

23-Hour Crisis Services offer short-term, intensive mental health care in a safe setting for individuals requiring immediate intervention before determining the appropriate level of care. These services are designed for crises that can be resolved within 24 hours, providing quicker, higher-quality care compared to other treatment options. Additionally, they help individuals safely transition back to their community for recovery.

Community Stabilization

Community Stabilization is a short-term, intensive service designed to support individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Its primary goal is to stabilize the individual and facilitate a swift return to the community. These services are especially helpful for those facing economic or social barriers that limit their access to mental health care.

Hebrews 6:10 informs us that God will not forget the work and love we’ve shown Him as we help people and continue to help them.  As a little girl, and even through the end of her college matriculation, Sikena was never completely sure about which profession she would pursue.  However, she did know that whichever career path she chose to undertake would allow her to advocate for oppressed and underserved populations of our community.  Upon graduating from North Carolina Central University, Sikena began working in the behavioral health field as an administrative director and direct care service provider. Assisting the executives of this organization with preparation for national accreditation, state licensure, and audits by the local management entity, it was this position that afforded Sikena the knowledge, skills, ability, and experience to serve in the capacity as an executive director for New Path Interventions.

Danielle Richmond knew from a young age that she wanted to dedicate her career to helping families in need. Driven by this passion, she pursued both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at North Carolina Central University. Danielle’s journey in the mental health field began in 2006, when she started as an entry-level field counselor. Through this experience, she recognized the importance of understanding how agencies operate from the inside out to better serve families facing mental and behavioral health challenges.

Her deep commitment to supporting families led her to launch her own agency. Since its founding in 2011, NPI has continued to grow alongside Danielle’s vision of providing accessible, compassionate support to children and their families. By meeting families where they are—understanding their unique experiences, emotions, and developmental stages—Danielle helps guide families through mental health challenges in a way that feels supportive and empowering.
